Dara O’Briain: Family, Friends, ADHD, and 2026 Tour Dates

Ask people what they remember Dara Ó Briain for, and the answer usually comes back fast: Mock the Week, the long-running BBC panel show. The steady stream of questions about his personal life — children, marriage, adoption, health — is harder to answer.

Born: 4 February 1972, Wicklow, Ireland ·
Nationality: Irish ·
Known for: Hosting Mock the Week ·
Latest live show: Re:Creation (2023, UK Comedy Tour of the Year)

Eight facts, one pattern: the professional record is solid, while the personal record stays private.

Career and biographical details above come from Dara Ó Briain’s official website; the friendship detail comes from the Daily Express (UK news outlet).

How many children does Dara O’Briain have?

Short version: no reliable public source in this research confirms a number. The comedian’s official biography is detailed about his career and silent about his children.

Is Dara Ó Briain married?

• The Daily Express reports that Ed Byrne was Ó Briain’s best man in 2006 — a detail that places a wedding in the public record (Daily Express (UK news outlet)).
• Beyond that, the marriage is not a publicity machine; the couple stay out of interviews.

What about the adoption rumour?

• There is no sourced claim that Dara Ó Briain was adopted; the idea circulates online without documentary support. The full answer sits below.

The implication: public record includes a wedding but not a family census. That is a choice, not an oversight.

Is Dara Ó Briain adopted?

• His official biography records his birthplace as Wicklow, Ireland (Dara Ó Briain official website).
• No interview, biography or official page in the research pack mentions adoption.
• The question appears to be a search-pattern curiosity, not a reported fact.

The catch: a question repeated often enough starts to look real. It is not.

Are Ed Byrne and Dara O’Briain friends?

Yes, and the friendship is well documented. Ed Byrne has described Dara Ó Briain as his best friend and says each served as the other’s best man, according to a Daily Express interview (UK news outlet). The two met at a Dublin gig more than 20 years before that interview.

Who is Ed Byrne’s wife?

• The sources reviewed do not name Ed Byrne’s wife.
• The same Daily Express interview details his parents’ professions — mother as radiographer, father as aircraft mechanic — but keeps his marriage private.

Are Ed Byrne and Jason Byrne related?

• No source in the research pack connects them as family.
• The shared Irish surname is the likely reason the question keeps appearing.

The pattern: the comedians’ professional friendship is easy to verify; their family trees are not part of the public record.

Does Ed Byrne have ADHD?

According to a 2026 profile in PublicReport.uk (entertainment profile), Ed Byrne has discussed an ADHD diagnosis on the podcast I’m ADHD! No You’re Not!. The same profile warns that the claim should be checked against the original podcast before being repeated as fact.

Does Jamie Oliver have ADHD?

• The research pack does not include a primary-source confirmation for Jamie Oliver.

Does Ed Sheeran have ADHD?

• The same applies to Ed Sheeran: no confirmed source appears in the research pack.

Did Robbie Williams have ADHD?

• No confirmed source appears in the research pack for Robbie Williams.

Who is the most famous person with ADHD?

• Fame is not a medical category. The responsible answer: the most famous diagnosed person is the one with a source you can verify.

The distinction that matters: a diagnosis discussed in an interview is evidence; a search query linking a name to ADHD is not.

What sickness does Ed Sheeran’s wife have?

No confirmed medical detail appears in the sources reviewed. Ed Sheeran’s wife has been the subject of public sympathy, but a specific diagnosis is not part of the research pack, and repeating one would be speculation.

The implication: health rumours spread fastest precisely when official confirmation is absent.

What are Dara Ó Briain’s tour dates in 2026?

Re:Creation is the current show, and the 2026 run is confirmed across the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, per Dara Ó Briain’s official website. His latest live show, Re:Creation, launched in 2023 and was later named UK Comedy Tour of the Year.

The Sligo date at Sligo Live Festival is already marked sold out by promoter Off The Kerb.

The pattern: the tour calendar is public, precise, and easy to verify. The family details are not, and that asymmetry is the real story.

Dara Ó Briain: a timeline

Four milestones frame his career, per Dara Ó Briain official website.

• 1972 — Born in Wicklow, Ireland (Dara Ó Briain official website)
• 2005 — Began hosting Mock the Week (Dara Ó Briain official website)
• 2023 — Re:Creation tour launched (Dara Ó Briain official website)
• 2026 — Re:Creation international run announced (Dara Ó Briain official website)

The implication: a career that has run for decades is still expanding, and the current tour is the most concrete thing to watch next.

Confirmed facts vs. what’s unclear

Confirmed facts

• Irish comedian and TV presenter based in the UK (Dara Ó Briain official website)
• Hosted Mock the Week from 2005 (Dara Ó Briain official website)
• Ed Byrne calls him his best friend; they were each other’s best man (Daily Express)

What’s unclear
